From October 2016 to June 2017, young artists and directors produced by Le Fresnoy – National studio of contemporary arts along with artists-professors will show their work at mk2 Beaubourg. The cycle is named “Là où va le cinéma” (“where the cinema goes”).

2016-2017 program : 5 new seasons of lectures (in English)
Following on the success of their collaboration on last year’s history of art lecutres, mk2 and Des Mots et Des Arts explore new fields of knowledge for the 2016-2017 season. From september 2016 to June 2017, besides history of art, discover the history of cinema, the history of opera and the history of Paris in the mk2 cinemas in France.
mk2 and Fabula Entertainment Enter Major Franco-Chinese Partnership (in English)
Paris-based mk2 has signed a partnership with Chinese auteur Jia Zhangke’s Shanghai-based Fabula Entertainment. This partnership includes production and distribution, exhibition as well as Virtual Reality content.
Stéphane Brizé’s “A Woman’s Life” awarded with the FIPRESCI prize at the Venice International Film Festival (in English)
“A Woman’s Life” was in competition at the Venice International Film Festival and won the international federation of film critics’ award. This is the second time that mk2 operates the international sales for a Stéphane Brizé’s movie, after “The Measure of a Man” in 2015. Distributed in France by Diaphana, the film will be released on November 23rd, 2016.
A third collaboration with Naomi Kawase (in English)
mk2 films handles World rights of Naomi Kawase’s new film “Radiance”. The filmshooting will begin in October 2016.
A new digital ecosystem for the professionals (in English)
After releasing the new institutional website mk2pro, mk2 unveils mk2films.com and mk2agency.com. Through a new design and a simplified interface, these platforms dedicated to BtoB activities will facilitate the discovery of mk2 agency’s and mk2 films’ savoir-faire, offers and latest news.
mk2 puts the spotlight on YouTubers through the Popcorner events (in French)
September 29th will be the first time in France that YouTubers will make preview showing of their creations in a movie theater, before putting them online. Popcorner is a unique opportunity for the artists to share their passion with their fans.
The documentary about Benjamin Millepied’s work at the Paris Opera is released on September 7th (in French)
mk2 and kmbo acquire rights for France for the documentary “Relève, histoire d’une création”, directed by Thierry Demaizière et Alban Teurlai. The film follows Benjamin Millepied’s work on his ballet “Clear, Loud, Bright, Forward” at the Paris Opera. The film is released in France on September 7th.
A different perspective on news through our partnership with the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (In French)
From September 2016 to June 2017, mk2 offers the public to discover a movie brightened up with the commentary of a researcher from the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences. Through a playful and pedagogical approach of what’s happening, the 10 screenings of this year’s season will focus on the theme “the faces of power”.
Go exploring the universe with mk2 and Christophe Galfard (in French)
From September 2016 to June 2017, physicist and writer Christophe Galfard will give monthly pedagogical lectures unraveling the mysteries of our universe : from the Big Bang to black holes and the existence of aliens. A former student of famous Stephen Hawking, Christophe Galfard tries to make the world and its origins more accessible to the public.
